Anxiety Buster: Keep the REAL End in Mind (Psalm 32:1)

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed… Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (Psalm 2:1-2, 12)

When I think of my country, my heart is troubled. No doubt many Christian patriots have felt the same way across the centuries. Thomas Jefferson said, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.”

Prophecy seems to indicate that America will eventually fall. But we don’t know if her end has come. Our enemy wants us to believe the case is hopeless. To throw our hands up in despair, and return to the busyness of daily cares while waiting for the inevitable implosion of liberty.

But this is not the way of faith. Faith declares its intent against impossible odds (Joshua 6:2-5). Faith scrambles up, outnumbered, into the enemy camp (1 Samuel 14:13). Faith marches into battle armed only with trumpets, pitchers, and lamps (Joshua 7:15-21). Faith preserves her children and prepares them for God’s calling (Exodus 2:1-10).

Let this be your focus today. Who knows? “It may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6). So let us rejoice in hope and jump into the fray as best we can, armed with praise, love, and truth.

And no matter how each daily battle turns out, we know the end of the war. If Jesus is my Savior, I have nothing to fear. Because I’ll be in heaven a lot longer than I am here.

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” (Psalm 32:1)

Heavenly Father,

I praise You for Your omniscience. You know the end from the beginning.

Lord, give me wisdom today to maintain Your priorities. How I long to hear you say, “Well done.” May I disciple my children with the enthusiasm and diligence of Moses’ mother. Help my words be sweet and my decisions just.

Thank you for providing all my needs, and for a supply that never runs out.

Make me sensitive to Your Holy Spirit: eager to shun every temptation, quick to forgive every annoyance and offense. Thank You for the love of God which is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost.

Keep me from evil, Lord, and make my life a prayer to You. Send a revival and let it begin with me. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever and ever.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
